Things to consider before adopting

Taking home a puppy is a big step! Puppies require a lot of care and attention, and it can be a big adjustment for you and your family. Here are a few things to consider as you think about adopting a puppy!

• Will you be able to commit to caring for your new puppy? Puppies and adult dogs alike need to be walked, cared for, trained, and socialized. Will you be able to commit to maintaining a healthy lifestyle for your pet?

• Have you considered how a dog might affect your lifestyle? Make sure you’ve spent some time researching retrievers, poodles, and doodles, to ensure this breed of dog is best for your lifestyle.

• Is your home a pet friendly space? Will a dog be happy and safe in your space?

• Have you considered the additional cost that comes with owning a dog? Dog food, dog accessories, dog-sitting & veterinary services. Make sure you’ve considered the additional costs that come with owning a dog.

How do I reserve a puppy?

To be added to our reservation list for  a puppy from our upcoming available litters, please contact us.

What is the deposit price for a puppy?

A $300 e-transfer deposit is required to be added to our reservation list. Picking a puppy goes in order of deposits received.
*Under some circumstances deposits will be refunded.
Final payment is due upon pick up of your puppy. Some families also prefer to send regular e-transfer deposits while they are waiting for their puppy to go home. 

How do I pick up my puppy?

Finally the day for picking up your puppy has come! This will be when the puppies are 7.5-8 weeks old. We don’t believe in picking a puppy out by photo before they’re ready. We want you to interact with the puppies so that you will know exactly which puppy is the right fit! However you can see pictures of our puppies on our Golden Pointe Kennel Facebook page. We will schedule appointment times about 2 weeks before the puppies are ready for adoption.  We ensure all families have a private pick-out and up time. We like to allow families time to meet their puppy individually. *Pictures are not posted until puppies are about 3-4 weeks old. I will always update you if you contact me by email. 

Can you ship my puppy?

We do not ship our puppies. 

What comes with my purchase of a puppy?

Your puppy will get a Veterinarian examination, first set of vaccines and will be dewormed.  All of our adopting families are given a puppy package that includes a small starter bag of food (we exclusively feed Royal Canin).

What do I need to have before I bring my puppy home?

If you are planning to crate train which I recommend, you should purchase a medium to large size crate. The ones that have a divider are perfect so that that the crate can grow with puppy!

Dog food: We use Royal Canin medium breed puppy for the Doodles and large breed puppy for the Retrievers. I recommend using the stainless no tip dishes.

If you plan to use a harness or gentle lead, I recommend purchasing that after you have your puppy to ensure a proper fit. A collar and leash can also be purchased after you have your puppy for proper sizing.

We use Kong chew toys for the puppies. They come In lots of different shapes and sizes!
